Last month Tom and Javier from Keep Up! trod the boards at KOKO in Camden alongside Plaid, Hexstatic, Breton, Public Service Broadcasting and The Beaufort Scale. And they had a blast. You can see what was a 45minute set condensed into a 3 minute movie!

Following on from their massive show at KOKO, Tom and Cosmo make the shorter trip to Brixton’s fantastic Hootananny for another excursion in sound & vision. They’ll be DJing in between the bands on and off until about 1am and then playing a two-hour set of music and moving images! If you know Hootananny, you’ll be down with its up for it crowd and top sound system. Should be a massive night, and of course its free!

Taking their In sound & vision show to the Midlands, the boys make a spring time visit Leicester’s coolest club Sophbeck Sessions. Joining Jon 1st and the rest of the Drop crew, Tom and Cosmo will be delivering a thick slice of bass-driven music cut to moving images. From what Keep Up! have heard about the venue its an inimate little basement, so Tom and Cosmo look forward to turning the lights off and bathing the bassment in light and sound.

Keep Up! Records Xmas giveaway 2011 by Keep Up! Records

The first was contributed a remix to Planet Mu records to tie in with the release of Falty DL’s recent LP You Stand Uncertain.

And secondly, under their more familiar name, they decided to have a bash at remixing one of their favourite modern soul singers Jill Scott. In fact, its pretty much a brand new composition. Downtempo hip hop style.

How excited are we about this? Extremely would be accurate. Keep Up! can confirm that it’ll play its biggest visual show to date at the beginning of the new year at arguably London’s greatest venue, KOKO.

If you don’t know the drill with Videocrash already, get to know! Cutting edge music with expertly crafted visual content to match! The night features two legends of Electronic music from the two best independent electronic labels. Warp LEGENDS Plaid, have a new LP out and recently completed their own soundtrack. Fitting then that their show comes with full visual content. As always as that Ninja Tune stalwarts Hexstatic perform their Holotronic video show. If that wasn’t enough, The Beaufort Scale. Javier and Tom from Keep Up! complete the bill.

Tom and Javier will most likely be playing early, so if you wanna catch the show please please get down there early and give us a shout, we think you’ll be really surprised by what we’ve been up to recently.

Keep Up! Sat 22 Oct @ The Ivy House, Peckham

Cast your mind back to those heady days of Jack Beard’s in Tooting and The Canalside Bar in Camden. Yes, the very bedrock of Keep Up! and later: Keep Up! Records. The days when we’d feverishly hunt down soul 45s to make each other jealous when Saturday or Sunday came along.

Fast forward a few years and a good friend of ours mentioned he was now running the entertainment at the Ivy House on the border of Peckham and Nunhead in south east London. The venue has a rich history of music in its glorious Ballroom, with people like Joe Strummer and Ian Dury gracing the stage on a regular basis. Well, Keep Up! is happy to say that it’s joining the party down at the Ivy House.

Join the boys for a trip down memory lane, spinning those obscure, well-known and downright funky tunes that almost made em famous all those years ago.

Door tax is a kindly £1 which we think is a right steal for a musical education :0)

Javier and Tom have been beavering away in their respective studios creating a new type of performance from Keep Up! One you can see as well as hear. Its been a long and painful process, but we’re pleased to be able to bring you an A/V show from the boys as part of Videocrash at the Rhythm Factory, London on Friday 11 November. The full line-up is yet to be announced, but you can expect some super special guests to be added yet! More details and an A/V appetite-whetter from Tom can be found below!

You may have noticed some of Keep Up! have been going all video lately. Tom and Javier have been constructing and performing video as well as audio DJ sets with the aid of Video SL from Serato. As a result of that, they’ve both getting into creating the content for these shows. This is one of Tom’s newest creations: a very simple edit from the cult film Scanners. WARNING: Not for the faint-hearted or under 18! More details on where you can see and hear this edit next coming very very soon!
